Homeostasis
Thermoregulatory centre - contains receptors that are sensitive to the temperature of the blood flowing through the brain.
Temperature receptors - detect the temperature of the body.
Effectors - produce a response.
Vasodilation - blood vessels supplying the skin dilate so more blood flows close to the surface when you are hot.
Vasoconstriction - blood vessels supplying skin capillaries constrict to close off the skin's blood supply when you are cold.
Kidneys - clean the blood and take the waste products to make urine.
Anti-diuretic hormone - controls the concentration of urine.
Dialysis treatment - machines do the job of the kidneys.
Kidney transplant - healthy kidneys are usually transplanted from people who have died suddenly.
